SYNOPSIS
Thanks to a large anonymous donation, London's Sadler's Wells launched a new biennial dance prize awarding the £ 40,000 prize money to the best original dance production created anywhere in the world in the last couple of years. Whether exploring identity, climate, resilience, or tradition, each finalist's piece pushes choreography in thrilling new directions. Featuring commentary from the finalists, Kyle Abraham (AN UNTITLED LOVE), Marco da Silva Ferreira (CARAÇA), Christos Papadopoulos (LARSEN C), and Lia Rodrigues (ENCANTADO), the esteemed panel of judges, singer-songwriter P. J. Harvey, choreographer and theatre director Dame Arlene Phillips and French-Indian poet Karthika Naïr, and post-show reactions from the audience, this documentary gives a fascinating insight in the inaugural season of this prestigious new award which the Guardian called "dance's answer to the Turner Prize".
